Very Exciting news for this young Colombian Artist!
This year, her oil painting ‘Stillness’ will be running for the $10.000 award in the Brisbane Art Prize. The finalist exhibition will take place Lightspace venue in The Valley, Brisbane for 5 days during the Life Art Worldwide Arts Expo 23 -27 September 2015.
This year the concept for entering the prize was the meaning of life—its significance, purpose, and ultimate fate—is a central world concept and is questioned in science, philosophy, religion and art.
‘Stillness’ is a very special creation for Katherine. Here is her brief description about the concept behind this artwork:
‘When I visited the Amazon Jungle, I was told that butterflies only stand still on a person, when they can sense absolute tranquility or calmness being irradiated. Overtime, I also understood that feeling present, in a state of consciousness that allows one to feel the power of moment and the fullness of being, arises from a place of no- mind, being; An inner Stillness.’
