During the Coivid19 pandemic I dare to paint ‘Mestiza* With A Blue Mask’- reinterpreting the portrait ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’ by Vermeer. A work that that marks the shift to a new era, reclaims the space for underrepresented diverse communities in art, and speaks to the viewer about the immanent flourishing beneath the mask. *A woman of mixed races.
